      Unless you've been living in a cave with the Taliban for the last few years, you recognize that Hellebores have become America's favorite shade perennial. Join Barry Glick of Sunshine Farm & Gardens, noted breeder of Helleborus x hybridus 'Sunshine Selections' and self proclaimed "King of Helleborus" for an educating and entertaining tour of the genus from hybridizing to propagation.
       Barry Glick is the owner of Sunshine Farm and Gardens near Renick, West Virginia where he propagates and grows one of the largest selections of woodland perennials in the world. He is a sought after lecturer on both plants and propagation techniques and has written articles for numerous publications. Jim Revell has loved gardening since his pre-teen days and following college and military service he owned and operated a landscaping business in California. In 2001 Mr. Revell joined the Bedford Area Master Gardeners, taking advantage of the training and the opportunity to serve his community, and the rest is, as they say, history. He is currently a sought-after speaker on horticultural subjects. Through his various positions with the Bedford Area Master Gardeners Mr. Revell has inspired a hands-on approach and spirited enthusiasm that grew the organization to new heights. He is a regular with the Master Gardener College, and he serves on the MG College Advisory Board where he has had an active role in planning and implementation of the summer programs.

      Sherry Kern has been a Virginia Beach Master Gardener since 1998 and a tree steward since 2005. She has a master's degree in horticulture from Virginia Tech and is a certified arborist.  As a faculty member of the Tidewater Community College she has taught interesting horticultural courses such as "All about weeds – from green roofs to lawns." Her publications include an article for the Tree Care Industry Magazine entitled "What Caused That Hole? Bird and Insect Damage to Trees."

      Sherry and her husband, David, visit Farmville regularly because her daughter and grandchildren, ages 2 and 3 1/2, live here.

      Water Gardening does not have to be time consuming, expensive or difficult. Learn how you can create your own water oasis.
      Water Gardening since 1993, Liz has found that creating your own garden oasis does not have to be time consuming, difficult, or expensive.  Currently she maintains five container water gardens and one in-ground water garden.Since becoming a Master Gardener in 2001, Liz often gives presentations to Garden Clubs and other groups on a variety of topics. Liz and her husband, Steve, raise chickens and beef
cattle on their farm in Cumberland County.

Deanna, a charter member of HOVMG, loves plants and has diverse plantings in her home landscaping. Deanna works for the Piedmont Soil and Water Conservation District where she helps landowners, farmers and homeowners to protect natural resources while using the land. Her passion for conservation extends to gardening and she is a proponent of Native Plants, Conservation Landscaping and Rain Gardens. Rain Gardening, a tool to control rain water runoff utilizing plants instead of concrete, can be used in the home landscaping as well as in commercial/subdivision areas. Deanna resides in Farmville with her husband, four cats and many plants.
