Sponsored by Heart of Virginia Master Gardeners
FULL DAY OF SIGHTSEEING!!!
$62.50 per person
Included: Transportation, lunch and all admission fees

Please join us for an exciting day of garden exploration in Blacksburg, VA. We will be traveling by motor coach from Prince Edward Co. Middle School in Farmville to the Virginia Tech campus in Blacksburg.

Our first stop will be the Hahn Horticulture Garden on the Va. Tech campus where we will enjoy a guided tour of the garden and greenhouse facilities.

Next, while relaxing in the Hahn Pavilion, we will be “transported” to far away places as Robert McDuffie presents us with a Virtual Tour of Gardens Around the World. Robert is an associate professor of horticulture at Va. Tech and has hosted many real garden tours to Europe, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. During the presentation, we will enjoy a delicious boxed lunch prepared by Our Daily Bread of Blacksburg.

After lunch it’s time to board the bus for a short ride to Smithfield Plantation, home of Revolutionary War patriot, William Preston, for a tour of the house and gardens. Smithfield has been open to the public since 1964. The landscape and gardens were restored in 1984 and demonstrate authentic 18th century plants.

From Smithfield we travel to Roanoke to visit Greenbrier Nurseries. Enjoy browsing the largest selection of plants and garden accessories in southwest Virginia! And YES, we have plenty of room for all your purchases in the luggage compartments under the bus.

After a stop for dinner we will head back to Farmville where we will unload our purchases and head home with memories of our exciting day. (Cost of dinner is not included.)

We hope you will join us for a great day of gardens and shopping! Please register early, as space is limited.
